Perth show returns in 2009

Fine Food Perth will run from 22-24 March at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre. This popular trade event runs every second year to service the West Australian market. It features over 150 exhibitors as well as the popular Oceanafest Chef Competition.

New next year sees the launch of a special section for dairy products. Major companies such as Dairy Farmers, Murray Goulburn, Bulla and Fonterra will all be on show. Export is also on the menu with the Department of Agriculture and Food organising groups of regional buyers from SE Asia to visit the show.

With the opening of the new Esplanade railway station next to the convention centre, visiting the show has never been easier.

Sustainability Update

This year's Good Food and Wine Show in June broke new records not only for visitor numbers but also for waste management. The organisers worked with the venue to recycle more than 80 per cent of the waste produced during the three-day event.

The outcome of this initiative meant that more than 15 tonnes of cardboard, 3.5 tonnes of glass (approximately 18,000 bottles), 11 tonnes of general waste, 2 tonnes of untreated timber and 34 tonnes of recyclable food waste were diverted from landfill.

Bookings open for Fine Food Sydney

Fine Food Australia will run in Sydney from 7-10 September 2009.

Next year the show will have a fresh new floorplan. It will include all the regular features and competitions, plus a brand new section for gluten free products.

Coeliac disease affects around 1 in 100 Australians but 80% remain undiagnosed. It is a growing issue and consumers are demanding change. Gluten Free World will give retailers and restaurants the opportunity to learn more and source the right products.

The Sydney show always sells out early so if your company is planning on exhibiting then now is the time to book. Contact the Fine Food team for more information.

New faces at Fine Food

After 34 years serving the hospitality industry Hetty Pruis is retiring this month. Her broad industry knowledge and wicked sense of humour will undoubtedly be missed by the hundreds of clients she worked with at Hospitality Magazine and Fine Food.

Joining the team are sales executives Eliza Whalley and Rade Cosic. Eliza will be known to many of the international exhibitors from her time with Hofex and Food Asia. Rade has moved across from the Australian Fitness Expo.

Exhibition Manager Minnie Constan says the larger team will provide a more personal service for exhibitors. They join Minnie, Timothy, Angela and Lee.

Exhibitor Tips

Dave Staughton attends dozens of trade shows a year. In a recent interview with Colin Green he made some valuable observations on exhibitors and how they can improve their performance. Did you know that 83% of exhibitors do not follow up their leads from a show? Dave says it is closer to 99% in his case.
